The VR-2 reactor project has won the Academy of Engineering Award
Experts from the Department of Nuclear Reactors of the Faculty of Nuclear and Physical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague have received another success; this year's award of the Czech Engineering Academy of the Czech Republic for the excellent technical project 2023 was the project Subcrititcal reactor VR-2. The preparation and management of the construction and commissioning of the reactor was done by the team of the Department of Nuclear Reactors (KJR), led by Ing. Jan Rataj Ph.D. and Ing. Filip Fejt, Ph.D.
Video from the VR-2 reactor vessel construction
Witkovitz company, which constructed the VR-2 reactor vessel, published a video of the vessel construction on its YouTube channel. You can watch the video here.
Construction permit for the VR-2 reactor
The State Office for Nuclear Safety issued the permit for construction of the subcritical experimental assembly called the VR-2 reactor.
Course for ENEEP
Last week VR-1 reactor hosted a course for ENEEP (European Nuclear Experimental Educational Platform). ENEEP was established as an open platform for any European university or European research institute that are actively involved in experimental nuclear education, training and competence building. The ENEEP founding members are five institutes (STU, CTU, TU Wien, JSI, and BME). All partners are heavily involved in experimental nuclear education, training and competence building.
Course at the VR-1 reactor lasted one week and was attended by 10 students from variuos countries. The participants performed various experimental measurements and at the end of the course also tried the VR-1 reactor control under supervision of the reactor staff.
