Online training Course for NTEC

This week the online training course for consortium of UK universities NTEC (Nuclear Technology Education Consortium) is held on the VR-1 reactor.

Site permit for new VR-2 subcritical reactor obtained

State Office for Nuclear Safety issued site permint for the VR-2 subcritical reactor. The VR-2 subcritical reactor will be used to expand education and experimental capacity and is scheduled to start operating at the end of 2022.

Annual Summer Shutdown

This week an annual shutdown started at the VR-1 reactor. This shutdown takes place every year in summer and its goal is to check reactor vessels, fuel, control rods and other parts of the reatcor core. This year is planned to dismantle an old demineralisation station and construction of a new one.
